Press Release - Festival 20 Years of Theater Reportage

Teatro di Nascosto - Hidden Theatre Festival Celebrating a 20 year journey

We are happy to announce our theatre festival: 20 years of Theatre Reportage.

The festival takes place from 23rd to 25th November 2018 in Volterra, Tuscany, Italy.

Led by Artistic Director Annet Henneman, featuring theatre, concerts, film screenings and conferences.

This festival is the result of 20 years of hard work and travelling that have taken us to Iraq, Iran, Palestine, Egypt, Turkish/Iraqi Kurdistan, Syria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, India, Italy, Slovenia, Holland, France, Spain, Germany, Denmark, Belgium and England.

Theatre Reportage tells the stories of those living in areas of conflict using theatre, monologues, song, film, radio and street actions.

The festival reunites over one hundred people who have collaborated with Teatro di Nascosto for the past 20 years from Europe, the Middle East and beyond.

Actors, journalists, activists and artists perform over three days, sharing the voices of everyday life under war.

“I want the public to live for one moment, a few minutes, what the people in Palestine, Iraq, Kurdistan, Egypt, Syria live during occupation, oppression, war, where bombs fall every day, a reality we know exists but feels very distant” says Annet Henneman.

The opening ceremony takes place on 23rd of November in the Sala Giunta of the Volterra Council Hall at 6pm. There ceremony will by opened by Marco Buselli, Mayor of Volterra followed by speeches from Antonio Pasquino, Italian Ambassador to Baghdad, Luisa Morgantini, Former Deputy President of European Parliament and representatives of local and international NGOs. There will be many members of the press and the wonderful people of Volterra.

We are grateful for the city and the people of Volterra for hosting our festival and for making our big international family feels at home here. Special thanks goes to our sponsors Comune di Volterra, Cassa di Risparmio di Volterra, Tavolo per la Pace della Val di Cecina and Assopace Palestina. We would also like to thank the many Iraqi and Dutch artists who have generously contributed.

We hope to see you on the 23rd of November.
